Amy Office Manager/ Front Desk
Amy handles various important responsibilities around the dental office, including scheduling appointments, handling insurance claims, organizing new patient paperwork, and so much more. She has been working with Dr. Smiley for nearly five years so far, and her friendly, organized nature makes her a great fit for the role! She has her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa.
Amy and her husband Mike have two daughters named Hailee and Jailyn. In her free time, she enjoys going on runs, baking, watching her daughters’ various activities, and practicing photography.
Maria Registered Dental Assistant/
Treatment Coordinator
Maria has more than 35 years of experience as a dental assistant and is truly committed to treating patients like family. She previously studied at Kirkwood Community College and is a teaching assistant at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. Maria’s husband is a retired dentist and together they have two grown daughters. After hours, she enjoys biking and reading.
Bonnie Registered Dental Assistant
Bonnie is a registered dental assistant with more than 22 years of experience. In addition to working side-by-side with Dr. Smiley, she has advanced training in Kör Whitening, dental implants, and IV sedation. Bonnie and her husband have five grown children and ten grandchildren. Away from the dental office, she enjoys hiking, bike riding, spending time with her grandchildren, and going to her church.
Shawn Registered Dental Hygienist
Every day, Shawn uses her 30 years of experience as a registered dental hygienist to help our patients create and maintain healthy, beautiful smiles. She studied at Hawkeye Community College and is married with two grown children and five grandchildren. Her interests include decorating, gardening, and cooking for her wonderful family.
Tara Registered Dental Hygienist
Tara has been working in the dental field for over two full decades now, spending time as both an assistant and a hygienist. She first came to our dental office in 2016 and loves working with such wonderful team members and patients. She is fully dedicated to serving each person’s dental needs and helping them achieve excellent oral health.
At home, Tara is married with two sons. She loves spending free time with her family and also cheering her boys on at all of the various activities they’re involved in.
Anne Registered Dental Hygienist
Originally from Waterloo, Anne has a long history in the oral healthcare field, working for several years as a dental assistant and nearly 30 years as a dedicated dental hygienist. She joined Dr. Smiley’s team in January of 2019 and loves working alongside such great team members, as well as the variety of performing work as both an assistant and a hygienist. She loves getting to know each patient very well over time!
Anne and her husband Doug have been married for almost 30 years, and they have two cats named Vegas and Axe. In her free time, Jazzercise is her biggest passion – it’s a great workout!
Dawn Registered Dental Assistant
Dawn has been working in the world of dentistry for an impressive 36+ years, having first joined Dr. Smiley’s team in 2016. Born and raised in Tripoli, she attended the dental assistant program at Hawkeye Community College and is an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant today. She loves working with such wonderful people and caring for a great group of patients.
Dawn and her husband Jeff have two grown sons and one daughter-in-law. When she isn’t busy at the dental office, her favorite hobbies include gardening, going on walks, reading, socializing with friends, and playing with her mini Goldendoodle Camo.
